The JOY DIVISON film 'Control' is set for release on DVD next year. The biopic
about the band’s frontman Ian Curtis is out on February 11.
The movie was directed by the band’s visual collaborator Anton Corbijn, who has
also worked with the likes of U2 and Depeche Mode, and was based on the book
’Touching From A Distance’ by Curtis’ widow Deborah.
Along with the film starring Samantha Morton and former singer Sam Riley (pictured),
the DVD release features extended scenes, a director's commentary, a making of
film and Corbijn’s ’Atmosphere 88’ video among the extras.

RANCID has finished writing their seventh studio album. The record was written
at Unknown Studios in Utah and will be recorded in California.

Dave Bateman, founder member, guitarist and songwriter of VICE SQUAD has passed
away. He was taken to hospital after a fall in Fuengirola, Spain, on Monday 10th
December, his 46th birthday, and died the next morning. The funeral will take
place in Spain, where he had been living for the last four years, on Saturday
December 15th.

A host of unseen lyrics, cartoons, and other memorabilia belonging JOE STRUMMER
are set to be compiled in a new book.
The Clash singer died in December 2002, but speaking in a newspaper interview
his wife Lucinda Mellor reveals that when going through his personal belongings
she found a number of bags which contained the artefacts.
She told the Independent newspaper: "Each bag had a sharpener in it, each bag
had cigarette papers, a matchbox, endless bits of napkins, kitchen roll,
receipts. Each bag told a story which was amazing. I had done quite a bit of
sorting before I really realised..."
The current plan is for the material to be put together in a book which will be
produced in conjunction with artist Damien Hirst.
She continued: "It's not something that's going to be rushed into; it's going to
be beautifully done. It'll be like an art book, with photographs, lyrics,
drawings, maybe unreleased songs, rarities. It'll have CDs in it, rare Joe stuff
– we'll see what we've got."

“The Denver Post” recently sat down with SOCIAL DISTORTION's Mike Ness to get a
status update on the band's follow up to 2004's “Sex, Love and Rock ’n’ Roll”:
“We're writing, and we're doing a new song in the set. But we have to stop
performing live before we can do anything in the studio, but we keep booking
work. We might get a rest one of these days. You really do have to stop for a
while and get yourself into reflection time and get into writing mode before
that can start. I can multitask, but it's really us having to say, "No more
shows, we've got to start writing," and we won't be at that point until February
at the earliest.”

The Daily Express and News Of The World both report on the casting of the film
“Who Killed Nancy?” which is due to start filming this month. Unknowns Nathan
Morris and Sophie Boyes (both from tribute act Sex Pistols Experience) have been
cast as Johnny Rotten and Nancy Spungen. NOTW reporter, Rav, claims Jude Law is
in talks to play Sid Vicious!! (Bear in mind that sources previously told Rav
that the SEX PISTOLS were playing Live 8!!!)

The 7”inch “We´re Selfish” from the BILLYBONES is out now on Dr. Strange
Records! The band is now working on their first full-length and also plan on
doing a European Tour in 2008.

Throughout the years RANCID had a lot of songs that were unreleased or released
on compilations, soundtracks and as B-sides. Now the band compiled them all onto
one album. “Rancid B-Sides + C-Sides” features songs from 1993-2003 never before

Washington DC, the home of “Dischord Records”, is the prime influence on BOB
MOULD’s new album, “District Line”. The New York-born frontman cut his teeth in
Minnesota with Hüsker Dü from the later ‘70s onwards, but has long since
relocated to DC, and he claims that the city’s atmosphere has had a rejuvenating
effect on him and his music.
“This record really sums up the past five years of being here,” comments Mould.
“It’s been a very positive experience, and District Line is my way of putting it
down in a book.”
Since Hüsker Dü split in 1988, Mould has bobbed between full-on rock and a more
contemplative semi-acoustic approach, both with Sugar and as a solo artist.
However District Line is described by his UK label Beggars Banquet as a “Loud
Bob” record.
Mould is joined on the album by Fugazi drummer Brendan Canty while cellist Amy
Domingues adds texture to what has been described as a determined and passionate
set.
District Line will be released in the UK on February 11 2008 and is preceded by
the single The Silence Between Us on January 28.
